Been to one of my sisters for lunch. She boiled up some pasta then added a jar of pasta sauce. She didnt realise she had to drain the pasta first! The reult was a watery slop, yuk. Never again.
What was your worst meal?
similar with pasta - crunchy pasta - cooked if that for about 5 out of 11 minutes and served with some awful sauce. Many years ago in Belgium ahead of a game of bridge. One woman who could not cook at all.
My mum's creamy fish pie - she made it a lot when I was small I hated it, I hate fish! Total nightmare, even writing about it brings me iut in a cold sweat yuk, yuk yukketty yuk yuk........................
My OH likes to experiment and presented me with a lamb steak topped with a type of prawn cocktail concoction. It still makes me heave to think about it (and i didn't have the guts to tell him).
My ex MIL's roast venison....it could have walked off the plates.
She literally had no sense of smell-I once had to point out to her that a chicken she'd had in the boot of her car was way past it!
As a new wife in the 70's I cooked "Florida Chicken In An Orange Rice Ring". I don't know what I did wrong but it tasted absolutely disgusting.
Our guests were very polite but they didn't ask for seconds.
A meal cooked by an ex boyfriend. He reckoned he could cook, but it was lousy. I don't even know what it was it was so inedible - it was some sort of thing in a cake tin which consisted of mince baked til it was dry topped with something or other. He had the cheek to give me "cooking tips" and kept explaining to me that if I stuck with him I might learn one or two things in the kitchen!!!!!!
I was helping at a youth camp in Romania and we were in a hostel up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere. Most of the food was nice but one meal they used to serve was half a plate of grated goats cheese with the other half this semolina type stuff. It was eat it or go hungry. I went hungry.
I also made the mistake when meeting the parents of a boyfriend at the time of trying to be all polite and eat what I was given. Loved salad but can't eat it with fruit, nuts, creamy dressing like stuff on it but was a bit dim not to think forward to how I then couldn't exactly not eat it again...and again...
Remember my dad putting flour in instant gravy when mum was in hospital :)
