There have only been 4 winners of the £250.000 prize They have all been women. Does that make women better gamblers than men.

I think it's more to do with the mans wife being in the audience compelling him to deal, similar to today.
When it's down to 2 boxes, and one had a quarter of a million, what did the banker offer?
Unsure, but I doubt it somehow.

It's a weird sort of gambling on that show though isn't it ? It's a simple case of keeping your nerve until you wimp out, or realise the large sums have gone.

Maybe women are more aware of what rubbish offers the banker makes in the hope that the constestant gets scared of losing all the big wins, and accepts the paltry offer.

Good answer. Today £100,00 was left of the two boxes. The bankers offered £20,000 and the fool took it . Thats taking even money for a 4/1 shot
i think there is something in what d97 says.

a man will be wondering what 'look' he gets from the wife when about to gamble, and knows that if he loses he will get a right nagging and never hear the end of it.

a woman about to gambe will be more knowing, and will need little encouragement from her partner to make her own mind up.
A woman will keep going until she has enough money for some decent shoes and handbags....
I would probably take the first amount offered!! I am no gambler!!
no...just more lucky :)
To help decide we should also know how many men or women finished with just 1p. We might make a better decision about theie gambling abilities if we knew what the average win was for men and for women. For some people it's better to deal if the sum offered can be used pay off debt or to start buying a home. Someone with little financial responsibilities will often prefer to gamble, hoping for a really big win. Maybe, men are more likely to fall in the first category, women in the second. Are there statistics relating age to success in DOND?
