New programme idea!

My 7yr old has come up with a really good idea for a tv programme. It is a different take on an excisiting series and would make a good addition to the format but how do you go about getting the idea to the programme makers?

It is a specific programme though on Channel 4 but isn't it normaly the production company that decide the format or do they just make it and someone else tells them what to do?
