Not the Onedin Line is it, though I think that was 70s.
I`m probably completely wrong but was it the Onedin Line?
sounds like "The onedin Line" but that was 70,s are you sure of the date?
I'd also suggest it was the Onedin line.

The theme tune was Khachaturyan,s Spartacus

that is too late. It was definitely early 60's. friends have suggested the bucaneers and Sir francis drake. I have looked on you tube but the theme tunes not the one, also did a search on Desert Island discs for both and Ivor Stanley??
it may have been the Lotus Eaters but probably Onedin Line

Captain Pugwash
The Lotus Eaters was also 70,s
Question Author
it wasn t captain pugwash! unfortunately. It was some classical music that someone chose (also remembering it for the theme tune to sea/island tv series early 60's) - on desert island discs. I can picture the (old fashioned) sailboat sailing cross the tv screen. must be around 1963
I'm being serious, this time........

yes it s got to be robinson crusoe. don t remember it in any detail - can just remember that i liked it. Have just referenced it on desert is. discs and it was Pen Hadow (and also Will Carling) who I was listening to (in 2004) I thought it was a couple of years ago so it took ages to trawl through archives!
