What a strange thing for a child to steal? sweets or toys, yeah maybe, but food?

the smack is irrellevent im asking about sentencing
I find this quite disturbing. The only reason I can see for a child stealing food is that he/she was hungry. So why smack him/her. Did they steal from a shop or from home. In either case I find it worrying that you are more concerned about the sentence and not the child.

from home but the boy has tourettes he has two cooked meals a day and snacks inbetween he is contantley hungry eats till he feels sick
A child exhibiting bruises from a parental punishment is quite disturbing. I hope they send him away for it.
the child should be taken to see his GP and referred to a dietician there is an underlying issue if a child is constantly hungry as at 9 they have a small stomach.
Over eating has nothing whatsoever to do with Tourettes Syndrome.
anyway you say he is to appear in 2 weeks, who is bringing the case? the police or scial services or a child protection agency?

plus, the child may be classed as vulnerable if he has Tourettes, and possibly other "conditions".
There could be a link between Tourettes and binge eating
