Jewellery Markings

A long time ago I found an eternity ring, it appears to be very old and is a gold band with either a white gold or platinum band set running through the centre. it has 23 stones set in it but one is missing. I dont know if these are diamonds or not, they are very cloudy and the ring could do with a good clean. The markings on the inside are 9CT and what looks like B\'C or 81C and there is a V. Does anyone know what these markings would mean?
