I want my father to be feed thro a tube but me and his consultant disagree about his treatment as i am suing the hospital for medical malpractice does the consultant have to do what i have asked

sorry, I appreciate you are going through a tough time.. but why do you think you know better than his consultant?

they have to consider the likely outcome, and sadly.. financial constraints have to be weighed up against the options.
I don't think anyone can really advice on such a complicated matter on so little information.

Is there a Patient Liason Service at your hospital you can go to for help and advice?

I'm not sure if they can help but bednobs may be able to tell you if she's about.
no, the consultant does not have to do as you ask (UK). unless your father has signed and registered a "power of attourney" for personal welfare, naming you as the attourney.
if your Father lacks capacity to make decisions for himself (if for example he is unconscious or has alzheimers, or in some other way cannot convey his wishes) then the consultant makes a decision "in his best interests" It is good practice to consult his relatives but he/she dosent have to agree with you.
