can anyone help me please. my sister passed her driving test last June. she thinks she might have been caught in a speed trap yesterday. she wasn't very much over, 33-35 mph in a 30 zone, but the worry is that she has been told by a "friend", that as she has only passed her test 6 months ago, she will be automatically disqualified and have to re-sit the exam. she is very worried and I would like some advice.
many thanks

if she gains 6 points on her licence within 2 years of passing her test then she will have it revoked and will have to take her test again.

so unless she already has 3 points, 3 points for speeding will not cause her to lose it
it's only if you get 6 or more points in the first 2 years, one speeding offence normally has 3 points so no problem.

Also 33-35 is a speed that may not trigger the camera anyhow, especially when car speedos normally read slightly high
Sometimes if you are only just over a limit you are offered to attend a speed awareness course, in which case you dont get any points.

thanks everyone, I''ll tell her to cool it for another 18 months.
why just 18 months? :)
tell her to cool it full stop surely?
"i'll tell her to cool it for another 18 months"

presumably meaning that after 18 months she can be as reckless a driver as she wants to be???
I know what she means by cool it.
When I first passed I had to drive so carefully and never went 1mph over the speed limit as was worried about points.

When finally 2 years were up I relaxed more, doesn't mean I go at 60mph through a 30, but I dont stress as much and dont worry if you accidently hit 35mph, as lets face it, we all are demon to it sometimes!
