I bought a car from blackhorse finance in 2002 I had paid over half when I moved to Ireland. I left the company my new adress every time i moved. I ran into financial difficulties and couldnt keep up with the repayments. I have been getting letters from 3 different debt agencies. because I had paid over half of the amount and couldnt pay anymore I asked blackhorse to take the car back. They said they would and sent the letters but when I phoned again the said that the wanted the car and the outstanding bill tho be paid with has now risen from 2700 to 4654.19. ihad asked them also if I could sell the car to pay the bill without the charges on top with would be 2700 they also refused that. I have now recieved a letter saying that they will be doing a doorstep assessment what can I do

How long ago did this all happen? - for the bill to rise by 2000 pounds, i would have thought that you may have left it some time? After you stopped paying, were you still using the car? How long between black horse saying they would take the car back and you ringing them to arrange it and be told they also wanted the money?

I am asking this because if they said they would take the car back (a bit strange since they are a finance company?) and then you didnt get them to take it back immediately that is very different from them saying they will take it back then you waiting 2 years to contact them
also, if you took it out in 2002 (six years ago), and you have paid 1/2 surely it wasnt a 12 year contract?

left England in 2005 asked them to take it shortly after that responed to every letter with phone calls immediately, very strange when i first came over the orignal debt wouldnt accept any small payment because not in the uk then onto the next agencies and so on. I have always stayed in contact but it hard to know whats going on when even the debt companies dont. also wrote letter to blackhorse about the arrears and taking the car back they wont respond to me.
so you have had use of the car from 2005 (when you stopped paying) until 2008? No wonder they want the car AND payment! There is surely nothing you can do now except give the car back and pay the debt?
