i have lived in a cul de sac for the last year and have always parked out side the front of the house, although all the other residents have enough parking on there drive for 2 - 3 cars we only have 1. The problem is my next door neighbour has started parking there as they have bought a caravan and i have to park at the side, i get paniked through the night as i can not see my car ( i had one stolen last year) and it is a constant battle to the space first is there any thing i can do, i spoken to the neighbours and they got abusive nad said they had a right to park there.

of course they have the same right to park there as you do, as long as their vehicle is taxed and insured. it is completely bogus to say you need to see your car in case it gets stolen, unless you literally stay up all night watching you car. - also when you are in in the evenings, do you sit with the curtains open just staring at your car?
i presume you mean the caravan is on their drive so they park their car on the road?
also, if you have room on your drive, why not park there? Although, vehicle being n drive does not mean it wont get stolen either - i once had a vehicle stolen from the front garden on the huse i was living in overnight, i slept at the front and had the window open and stil didn't hear a thing!

there is another car on my drive which is at the back of the house nad yes the caravan is on there drive with another car and a double garage in which they do not use.
I am afraid, as said, if there are no parking restrictions in force (i.e residents parking permits etc) and your neighbours' cars are insured, taxed and MOT'ed you haven't got a leg to stand on.

Mediation maybe an option if the neighbour is a tw4t.

And as for seeing your car, one must be realistic. If you see some chavs stealing your car are you really going to tackle them? Would you risk being stabbed in the eye with a screwdriver (all car thieves will have one with them) for sake of an insurance claim??

Don't get me wrong I am all in favour of citizen rights against the scum, but I am a trained fighter, big, strong, fearless with a cool head and a working knowledge of how I could escape a prosecution when I plough the aforementioned screwdriver in the thief's genitals. But do you have these (maybe undesirable) traits?
