I'm looking to work in America for a year to gain work experience. I hve worked within the catering industry for 10 years and also have office experience from working for a newspaper.
Does anyone know of a way for me to gain a job without being a student? any help appreciated.

Sorry, unless you've got specialist skills which are in short supply in the USA or you've got other high-level professional skills (which usually means having qualifications at higher degree level), there's absolutely no way that you'll get a work visa for the USA. See here:
