as far as i can remember, if you have let him do repairs, this is as good as saying you have accepted it, but regardless of this if he is a dealer then you should have a three month warranty on parts, which means he should fix it to your satisfaction,
This is why a lot of dealers advertise in their local papers as private sellers, I don't know if this is the case here, but if it is, and he insists he is selling privately, then just remind him that he as a dealer has obligations to you the customer,
If you had taken it straight back, and refused repair, you could have used the not fit for purpose clause.
hope this has been of help.
good luck,
pete.
What exactly is faulty with it?

i v been told its the idle valve by my mechanic. the car keeps juddering and cutting out once its warmed up. it also had wheels that were too big and were rubbing a hole in the hose connected to the radiator. he swopped the wheels with another of his cars and said he put a new hose on it after i complained.
You've been well and truely ripped off! If I were you I would get in touch with Trading Standards or see a solicitor at the CAB, they will give you half an hours free advice. As for swopping the wheels around, the car could have been very unsafe with the wrong wheels on it. Don't let it go on, get some advice as soon as possible.
