My friends daughter is looking to work with animals which to me seems a very hard sector to get into unless you are very highly qualified and want to be a vet or vet nurse etc. or the other end of the scale which seems to be just animal care worker (i.e. cleaning out and feeding) which is very poorly paid.

She will be qualified up to BTEC Diploma standard but doesn't know where to start.

Has anyone any advice as to where she could get help apart from Connexions. The college career people don't seem to help that much.

A wild card jeff, but looking for work in zoos and safari parks, that sort of thing, might broaden her choices. They often appreciate poeple who will turn a hand to anything, and can also give work placements.
there are a few UNI's which do animal based courses. my sister is studying equine dentistry at UWE in hartbury college. if she really wants to work with animals she needs to get the qualifications in the specific field she wants to go into. Work experience is essential contacting vets and zoos will aid her applications greatly to any animal based jobs.
