Lifting at work is all about risk assessment not an absolute lifting limit.
If you have concerns about lifting you are being asked to undertake at work, you should bring this to the attention of your superiors.

The risk assessment will include the weight being lifted, the stature of the person doing the lifting, plus other factors such as the size of object being lifted/moved and how it is being moved (involving stretching, reaching, carrying for any distance etc).

The purpose of the risk assessment is to minimise the risk of injury those conducting the lifting should be integral to the risk assessment and fully understand what actions/assessment they must make before undertaking any lifting activity.

The risk assessment is very important to your employer, having one will assist them in any defence against an injury claim resulting from lifting not having one will significantly impair any defence.
At my place of work, I have to lift at least 18 x 20kg weights plus an array of bigger and smaller ones. I mean, i now have a prolapsed vagina because of it.
Good grief!!! If that's true Velvetee - you want compensating for that!
Yes it is true, but we are all expected to lift these weights. They don't care.

I shall be there tomorrow night, picking up all these damn weights, replacing them on the stacks, because the lazy male twits who use them just leave them lying around.

ok thanks. all very informative .
and i hope your vag gets better vavetee...
You missed the irony of the point, Velvetee. 18x20Kg equals 360Kg. That's weightlifter territory.
Well I work in weightlifter's territory.
