thanx ,but how would the D.V.L.A. know of the ban?
ALL E.U Countries are Duty Bound to place the info of ALL Banned Drivers into all of their Computers.

would the driving licence be taken away to be endorced?
"If you're banned from driving in one country, that doesn't stop you driving elsewhere in Europe. Attempting to return to that country driving a vehicle, though, will lead to your arrest. However, according to the AA, drink driving convictions abroad do not affect your U.K. licence. They claim that even if your licence is confiscated abroad, the foreign government will simply send it to the DVLA, which will then return it to you without penalty!

Ethel, if you are right that is absolute pants!
The courts in this country cannot put points on a foreign licence - only fine the driver.
However, the courts can give the foreign driver points so they show on a UK driving licence should he or her apply.

They do not show on the foreign licence though,
European Union legislators aren't to blame for the lack of a common policy. They introduced a relevant Convention ten years ago:

The problem is that it can't come into effect until it's been ratified by all member states and very few have done so, despite politicians like Jack Straw giving it their backing in 1998:
