Are my employers legally obliged to pay extra monies
to me for working christmas day?
If not where can i find this piece of legislation?

No they are not. It's probably actually legal to pay you LESS.

Most decent employers do pay extra though.
No, you are not entitled to extra pay for working bank holidays unless it says differently in your contract of employment.

If you are employed in a shop over 280 square feet you cannot work Christmas Day - that is the only exception that I am aware of.
