Is it right that postmen are not allowed to deliver mail to people if he lives in that street .Just something I heard awhile ago and wondered if it is right.Thanks

If it's true then it's ignored - I know several posties who deliver in the village where they live.

Thanks for reply yes that is possible but what I meant was if he lived in x street would he be allowed to deliver post in that 1 street.
I read on another thread that no, they shouldn't do this as they are uninsured should anything go wrong with it. That's why they insist on letters going into the postbox.

hi squarebear think you have read me wrong i didnt mean postman picking mail up I mean delivering mail to the street he lives in .
Sorry yes, I have read your question wrong. I suppose the only reason they wouldn't be allowed to deliver in their own street would be because they would know what others are up to. Seems a bit strange if it is true though.

Where I work, I regularly see people's personal information who I know.

our postman is our next door neighbour and has been for years! works out great for me though! if i am at work and he has any bulky mail to deliver for me he sticks a note through the door and i go and get it from his when i get home!

Thanks for your replies so looks as thought it don't matter was just curious as it was just something that came up in conversaton awhile ago.
