I don't know what to do anymore...I have this "friend" whom I get on well with, but am not attracted to (at all).
The problem is, he is very infatuated with me. I have explained how I felt, and he is (relatively) ok with it, but keeps on buying me all sorts of things....He took me to two 6 nations games, all expenses paid. While we were there,, he bought me absolutely everything I even remotely liked, to the point where I couldn't look at anything for fear of him buying it! It really freaked me out, and to say sorry, he bought me an mp3 player...kind of missed the point! :-(
I like his company, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop seeing him if he can't stop buying me things...
Now, what do I do? I feel a bit of a cow for accepting his gifts, even if he says he understands I don't like him that way but just wants to see me happy and he doesn't care about money. I'm baffled. Sorry about the ramblings, but I'm really confused...should I accept with good grace (and thank my lucky star..lol) if it makes him happy, or should I refuse the gifts and make him unhappy ? Argh.....Finished work now, so will have to wait till I get home to see replies. Ta.

Just back home now....I see my "problem" hasn't inspired many....ah well, nevermind then.
Hello,
I didnt notice this question until now. We were not ignoring you. LOL
Well firstly i would get him and sit him down and say why are you buying me these things. I like you as a friend i dont want ta relationship with you. Wait for reply. Then say it makes me feel bad that you buy all this stuff for me. would you stop it.
Try and be as nice as possible but let him know how you feel and that you maybe feel trapped by it. Can be difficult though as he could say you are reading to much into it. In that case then reply with well please dont buy me everything and as much!
Hope that helps! xx

Thank you for replying!
I have told him exactly how I feel , ie I like him as a friend, but nothing more, and his buying me stuff makes me very uncomfortable. All he says is that he loves me, but understands it can not happen, and he'd rather be just friends than losing me completely....His answer to the gift problem is that he has a lot of money, but no interest in it for himself and nobody else to buy things for, so it makes him happy to give me presents.
It's difficult for me to understand, as I have a very "respectful" attitude towards money, and never ever waste it if I can help it. But he says it is not wasting it as it is making me happy.....I don't know what to say anymore, but at least he's agreed to stop buying me stuff as he understands how it is making me uncomfortable.
He was just back from italy yesterday, so I met him for coffee. He brought me some coffee from Italy. And an Ipod...
We have agreed that it is the last gift he is going to give me if he wants us to remain friends. We'll see how it goes, I guess....Very strange situation to be in! :-S
