Self-conveyancing on house sales/purchases

Is there REALLY any need to have a solicitor/conveyancer do this or could a member of the public do it themselves?

Not practical or viable financially if you have a mortgage as the lenders will have their own lawyers handle their bit and charge you over the odds for the priviledge

The selling of a house is relitivly simple, and you will save a lot of money. You can buy books that will tell you how to do it.

no I have only ever used a lawyer or licensed conveyancer

yes you CAN do it yourself but I owuldnbt
