Has anyone or does anyone know of somebody who has been fined for talking on their mobile phone while driving.
It seems every other car I see, the driver is happily chatting away showing complete disregard for the law.

the police did have a crackdown on it a while back, but they dont seem to bother now, more important things to do.
I occasionally see in the local paper that someone was fined. However, I often see drivers chatting away with the phone to their ear as they lunge round corners and roundabouts without notice. I've had to leap out the way more than once when I've walked across junctions to avoid being hit by someone with their phone clamped to their ear.

I read recently that someone chatting on the phone while they drive is only devoting 10% of their attention to the driving - the other 90% is on the conversation! Certainly, the law is no deterrent. It is one thing having big fines. But if drivers know they won't be caught then obviously they won't bother to stop or ignore the phone.
Yes i know someone who got done for "undue care and attention" for chatting on his phone. He got a fine but i can't remember how much
I'll own up ,it's a fair cop - I was caught red handed so to speak, and I think the fine was about 60.
I haven't done it again, needless to say.
