Has Anyone Ever Had Any Dealings With Keoghs ?

Had a letter from Keoghs last week. Apparently they've been contacted by a car insurance company to represent me in a claim following a shunt in July 2021. There was no injuries, my car had no damage, the damage to the other car couldn't have possibly been caused by me (it was little more than a tap, we were driving so slowly !) but I was automatically blamed as I was driving behind when the car in front of me inexplicably slammed on his brakes.
I did have a call from the insurance company some time later in 2021, telling me to expect a call from a solicitor as 1 of the 2 occupants was claiming personal injury (was obviously a scam) but not to worry, they would deal with it. I never heard any more.
I've tried contacting the insurance company but can't get thru' (I'm not insured with them any more). The letter states they will represent me unless I tell them otherwise. Having never heard of them I checked online. Their Trustpilot reviews are appalling, not a company I want anything to do with !
If I tell them I don't want their "services", what's likely to happen ?

Contact who ever were your insurer at the time of the accident.
Did you declare the accident when you changed insurance co?
Question Author
I've tried contacting the insurers several times, waited on hold for over an hour each time, & I've emailed them couple of times too. No replies. And obviously I've declared the "accident" with subsequent insurers. Bad enough that's had my premiums going thru' the roof when *they* caused it without these con merchants now apparently "suing" me too !
Thanks. But I'm not sure they or there insurers would agree they caused it if you went into the back of them.
The old insurers hours know though asyou would of give your insurance details at the time of the accident
'Should' not 'hours'. Weird autocorrect
Question Author
That's all pretty irrelevant now tbh, I just don't know what I'm supposed to do about their [fraudulent !] claim for damages, injury (I don't know what it's for !) 2yrs later !
I've tried contacting the insurers again, using different options. Gave up again 1st time after 30mins, 2nd time I did get as far as giving bot my details, was put thru' - I could hear voices in an office - then they cut me off ! :((
Am at my wit's end with this & nowhere to go with it now.
There a biggish firm so doubt its a scam letter. Is there a contact number or name on the letter? Maybe there appointed by your insurance company at the time. Or you could just do nothing and see what happens.
Their crisps are quite good, didn't know they did other stuff.
Question Author
They *have* been appointed by the insurers, & not a scam, they look a legit company, there is an e-mail address & phone number & an individual's name - but take a look at their Trustpilot reviews ! I don't want anything to do with them. And if I just leave it, looks like potentially I'll have bailiffs at my door. Much the same, judging by the reviews, as if I contact them.
You wont get bailiffs at your door until its gone to court and the court decides you (or your insurer) owes money.... seems its way from that stage. You could just leave your insurer to it ...or get you own legal advice or ask CAB if you want peace a mind
Question Author
Having looked at the reviews I'd say bailiffs at the door is a likely prospect, whether I go along with them or not.
I had hoped in asking this question someone may have come across this situation themselves & given me some reassurance. I guess not.
I guess your not really reading the replies here and have already made up your mind. If you were properly insured at the time the insurance company would be liable. Bailiffs dont just turn up until courts have decided money is owed.
Question Author
I have been reading your replies bobbinwales, altho' a lot of your comments were covered in my original question. If you were to read the reviews I think you'd see why I'm concerned.

Oh, & in the 10 page letter Keoghs have sent, that says it contains everything I need to know actually tells me - nothing. Apart from a date in July 2021, & the insurance company. I have no clue what the claim is for. So I have *nothing* to take to a solicitor or CAB. I'm miffed enough that they have my address, I don't want to ring or e-mail them, I want to speak to the insurers. But I can't. So I came here.
Do they accept letters?
And maybe they have been appointed to help YOU claim uninsured losses .... maybe theres no claim against you or your insurers settled it. I think youd of heard if there was an outstanding claim for you to deal with
Why not write to them and send it by special delivery, that way they have to sign for the letter and cannot deny they received it at sometime in the future, costis about £7 for a letter.
Question Author
Of course there's nothing stopping me writing but I want no dealings with them.

PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS ! Would you want anything to do with them ?

Help ME claim ? What ?! I didn't make any claim, no damage to my car or me. Or them !
The 1st line says "We have received instructions from [insurer] to represent your interests in a claim which has been made by the Claimant after the above accident".
I'm the defendant in other words. I have no idea what this 2yr old claim is. This is why I asked if anyone else has had a similar situation. Clearly, with respect bobbinwales - you haven't.
Question Author
I need to repeat an important bit I included in my question,
"The letter states they will represent me unless I tell them otherwise."
Sorry fripfrip, I don't want to contact them. I don't want them contacting me. If someone would just read the reviews they'd see I'm not overreacting.
So my question remains, has anyone had a situation like this & what would be the likely outcome other than (seems to me at the moment) bailiffs visit sometime in the next few years, whether they "represent" me or not.
Question Author
While I remember ... *if* this company want to represent me, why have they not asked me for anything. My version of events, for instance ? Too many unanswered questions.
Ignore it
