Has anyone been recently? Do they still serve the Sunday roast dinner?

Yes, I know there are much better pubs that serve far superior food.

No, they have not done a Sunday roast since they were allowed to reopen following Lockdown One. In its stead they introduced an "all day brunch".
J D Wetherspoon ceased serving a traditional Sunday lunch six tears ago:

They no longer have 'club deals ' on different days of the week. Their 'Steak Club', 'Curry Club' and 'Fish and Chip' offers are now available every day but they no longer serve roast dinners on any day.

^^^ "six tears" ????

It might be sad but I'm not crying over it!

Six years!
Yes, thanks Chris. I was confusing the Sunday Club with the abolition of the other "Clubs" you mention. I believe these were knocked on the head following lockdown.
I've been trying to remember which other 'club' they also knocked on the head. It was, of course, their 'Chicken Club'.
Rather timesome, methinks, this endless knocking of Wetherspoons. People choose to go, the prices are modest, they're usually clean and the toilets the cleanest I've come across. |t seems to me that there is some snobbery here. Fine, you superior people enjoy your more 'select' venues and pay twice as much. Would be grateful if you leave us plebs on pensions well alone.
^^^who has endlessly knocked Wetherspoons? Are you seeing something different?
I don't see any knocking of Wetherspoon's, Paigntonian. Barry's post recognises that there are better places to eat (which even Tim Martin would agree upon, I'm sure) but he still seems happy enough to consider eating there.

All of the other posts are simply providing factual information.
Eh? I don't see anyone knocking Weatherspoons on this thread.

That's a shame, I've been told they no longer serve their chilli con carne which I always enjoyed nor their lamb shank. I am having a 'boys' night out at the theatre in a couple of weeks and Wetherspoons is convenient for the bus and train stations and is directly opposite the theatre. Some of us are not as mobile as we were and others are very 'traditional' eaters.
Years ago I used to go for a 'club' meal once or twice a month. Now I've got an independent family pub down the end of my road which does Sunday roasts. It's a bit pricey but nice to go to if we feel like it.
They do a five bean chilli which is lovely. I like it on a jacket potato with unlimited hot drink refills for a fiver.

I can see why some people knock Wetherspoons pubs - it all depends on which one(s) they have been to.
There is no way I would ever go back to the one nearest to me, it is dirty and attracts the great unwashed, the all day boozers and the atmosphere is not comfortable.
There are other branches not too far away I would be comfortable taking anyone to, clean and well-managed, pleasant surroundings and atmosphere.
The breakfasts served by one in Birmingham city centre are excellent - always hot and well presented.

Thanks for that, Karamia, I'd be happy to try it
I think I know what Paigntonian means. Wetherspoons has been knocked on AB in the past on threads and he obviously misread the OP. Hope you don't mind me trying to explain P !

I am one of those that enjoy Wetherspoons food. I particularly like the steak and kidney pudding with chips and peas. I also think their curries are rather good too.

You carry on enjoying it P, as I will.
Wetherspoon's have largely followed the 'pizza and burgers' route with their menu these days, presumably to meet the demands of families with children and younger diners. Old fogies like us don't seem to be so well catered for as previously :(

Their full menu can be downloaded from my second link above.

Pizzas and burgers are not foodstuffs I would eat but thanks for the link, Buen.
>>> I particularly like the steak and kidney pudding with chips and peas.

Not any longer, it seems :(
[It's not on their menu now. See my second link above]
'Spoons also has a Lloyds, this seems a tad upmarket, and doesn't usually attract the allday boozy customer.
Barry (and, indeed, others here too):
If you're ever seeking a decent meal at a reasonable price from a chain bar/restaurant establishment, it's always worth checking out whether there's a branch of Cosy Club in your area. Their prices aren't really that much more than those in places like J D Wetherspoon pubs but the food is far superior, the atmosphere is far more relaxed and the staff are generally wonderful!
