Silly things annoy you.

I watch Tipping Point as a minor distraction, but rather than listen to the innane remarks of the odious host I turn the sound off and read the subtitles instead.

Trouble is, they’re typed by some moron, too.

“Going to” is subtitled as “Gonna”.

“Want to” is always “Wanna”.

And so on. Perhaps they can’t spell the real words.

PS when hosty asks “and where do you want to put your final counter?” I wonder if anyone is tempted to tell him.

The subtitles are auto-generated by AI.
Question Author
Yes, but some fool has to program them, and tell the machine that ‘going’ is ‘gonna’.
you want to try watching films on Talking Pictures. They have some wonderful old films but the subtitles - if there are any - are often wrong and sometimes hilarious.

When the Queen Mother's funeral was broadcast, one of the subtitles said "There will now be a minute's violence."
704 - radio 4
731 classic - for wallpaper

the subtitles are computer generated in real time - priddy quick huh? The deaf such as myself are always complaining about it and the Beeb is pretty snotty about it ( "I am tired of being always asked about this" one Beeb middle mgr sniffed - and the presenter said reverentially yes o great one, Instead of saying - " well do something about it then!"
abart i' ven - all dialog is in North TTT where no one can do 'the' or 'though'.

Prince Harry as best man got described as Jihadi
and it goes all coy with when someone is given a spanking
( I think )
don't forget, it's quite possible the presenter has said "Gonna" and the subtitle is correct.
Don't care for Ben Shepherd, I feel he needs to go to the toilet when someone doesn't get a counter over
You are right, jno. As well as being inane as allen says the presenter cannot talk properly and always says gonna and wanna.
See the last couple of minutes sometimes when going to watch The Chase.
Question Author
No. Sometimes I listen, and people with perfect RP get subtitled ‘gonna’ or ‘wanna’.

Nowt wrong with this OP in CB, Baldric.
allen, I am very observant and always notice continuity slip ups which distract me from storylines.

Nowt wrong with my response in CB either.
Question Author
True, baldric. You can say what you want, and frequently do.
Unless you listen to the program you don't know whether the subtitles are rite or rong.
I see jno has already mentioned it...and well, look at that, you do actually listen to the program.
Question Author
Tell me more about how AI works.

Surely it still needs programming, originally?
Since we're getting all up there about this and that, there's a time and place for 'program' just as there is for 'programme'.

Maybe I can color your judgement by reaching out.
// Unless you listen to the program you don't know whether the subtitles are rite or rong.//

and what about radio - - sozza sozza I must take this seriously

and so unless I heard the script, I wd think that Prince Harry was er or wasnt a Jihadi - - I had a good idea wivvart da speech, you know

and at the Queen Mums funeral there really was a a minutes violence - I am shocked!
I can’t stand T P. I’ve always said I find Ben too touchy-feely. Touching the contestants arm/shoulder when they get questions right sometimes wrong. I annoy my wife on the rare occasions it’s on, by repeating “ Tipping Point “ every time Ben says it, and he says it a lot. Have you noticed? Wonder if he wakes up at night shouting “ Tipping Point Tipping Point “
