Two little boys have had accidents about 7 months ago (same accident). They are doing well but are wearing cages on one leg due to multiple fractures.

They will be due a big claim - can any monies be paid to them via their mother or do they wait until they are 18 if it is held in a trust for them.

It is usually held in trust but the trust can be used before they reach the age it is due for essential expenses such as tuition fees, physiotherapy etc
Be aware that it can take 5 years or more before any claim is settled.

could any of it be used to buy a new car (for them)
Depends on whether it is decided that a new car is essential for them.
Are the in the UK, NI or Ireland?
Is it a car for them to drive when they get to 17 or does mum need a specially adapted car now to drive them round in- if the latter then that should be included in the claim. Claimant solicitors rarely miss a trick and will possibly have asked for a new house or major alterations
