If someone dies before claiming a lottery prize, can the prize be claimed by the inheritors of the estate?

i'm asking what the position is legally.
Don't know for sure, but my answer would be yes. The money is not the money until the lottery has validated it. So the inheritance would only be the ticket, not the money, which would save a lot in inheritance tax.
An interesting question. Not being a lawyer I don't know; however, I would think so as the ticket is part of the estate.
Also, I suppose that the laws vary according to which country, state province, etc you reside.

sam interesting, that seems to be talking about the annuity for the £10 per month prize.
Going by section 4 of the rules here, it looks like it can. Providing the ticket hasn't been signed.

but say the ticket is signed.. Is it inheritable?
My view is yes. Even if it has been signed the executors step into the shoes of the deceased.
