Hi all, it's been a very long time since I posted on the Answerbank, hoping for some advice as we're all clueless about this!!!
Unfortunately my 16 yr old nephew was arrested early hours on Saturday morning after a fight on Thursday evening at a local park......Complete shock to the entire family. He was arrested at 4am (home raid :( ) and released after being totally stupid giving a no comment interview at 10:40pm......He's been sent home, providing he's home between 7pm and 7am......That night he went out the minute my brother and his wife went to bed, to a "mates" house, who honestly seem to be involved in a massive crime culture in Liverpool .....My Sister in law went and picked him up early hours, and waited outside the house from 6:45pm yesterday to get him back in time for 7.
Tonight they have both been in work and when they came home after 7, there was no sign of him...turns out he's up at this "mates" house at the other end of town and they've had to inform the police that he's breaking his terms...he hasn't been charged with anything yet, and I suppose he's on bail due to return to the custody suite on the 28th of June.....We're all at our wits end, he surely will be arrested if he doesn't keep to the conditions hes released with? dreading it in case he can be put in a young offenders till he has to reappear on the 28th?
Any advice/ experience welcomed !!! TIA x

If he has breached bail then Yes he can remanded, but as a 16 year old it will be to a young offenders center, not an adult jail.

Thank you EDDIE51, that is our worst fear, as the youth offender centre is part of Risley HMP nearest to us.....Just wish he'd listen to us and not be taken in by this gang of mates who think they're all above the law. Feeling helpless, but thanks very much for your quick response x
thinking of you....
some 16 y olds seem determined to go off the rails ....
Peer pressure is very strong at this age. Feel for the family and hope he sees sense very soon.
To be honest sounds like its the best thing that can happen to him - short sharp shock to the system.
Sorry that your family are going through this x

Is he actually on bail atm, or just released with a curfew?
