I'm Just Beginning To Feel Human!
35 Answers
We got back from holiday on Sunday, it has taken from then to now for me to recover from the holiday. I actually feel human now.
The older I get the more I feel I don't want to go on holiday any more. Unfortunately I have two other holidays booked this year. I might have to rethink next year.

When I talk to my cats (as I do almost constantly), I always refer to myself as "Human". (e.g, after I've started them, "Don't worry, it's only Human" or, if I've been out of the house for a while, "Human's home. Let's find some food").
Now I see, from the title of your post, that you're "just beginning to feel Human". So I'm now wondering if I'll enjoy the experience ;-)

I don't like travelling long distances. We went on a boating holiday in Brittany. We tried to recreate our past when we had a boat of our own. We shouldn't have done it. We are 79 and 74 now. Jumping on and off boats is a bit too much, we both suffered from too wobbly legs.
Holiday knackered us and a two day journey home just about finished me off.

So why not give up the long journeys (timewise), rather than giving up the holidays, per se? Birmingham Airport isn't that far from you, which you could use to access relaxing breaks in cities such as Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Lyon and Edinburgh (all with FlyBe)or Barcelona, Bratislava or Madrid (with Ryanair). I can definitely recommend Bordeaux as a city with a lovely, relaxed air about it ;-)

I sympathise. Years ago I used to take pupils on a canal holiday. Absolutely loved it but couldn't do it now. Same with Paris, I used to love my fortnightly holiday there, strolling along the boulevards, popping into every café I passed and riding the Métro. Again, just haven't got the physical strength.
