Several threads on here recently have made me despair at the "me first, me second, me third ... and everyone else can go hang" attitudes that seem to be being propounded by original posters and then gaining some considerable support from subsequent repliers.
I see people keeping money they find, running away from responsibility after deliberately damaging property, selling a house - with the cat included, scoffing in the face of legitimate 'benefit sanctions' ... and that's just today.
Surely we are better than that? Surely society cannot even survive if we all go down that route?
Or is it just that we who are signed up to the 'social contract', which keeps the country going, are mugs - with the asocial/antisocial sector laughing like drains at our stupidity in continuing to indulge their behaviour?
"Surely society cannot even survive if we all go down that route?"
Why not? It's cobbled along ok (ish) so far hasn't it? We've not changed, there's nice people like you lot, then there's the 'orrible bunch like me an nailt, lol.
Really?
What I see is the deport all immigrants, make them take off the veil, kill religion (I quite like that), get a job, dress to please, scrounger bashing, homophobic, xenophobic, youth hating, stereotyping right wing approach personally.
Horses for courses I suppose.
So should I be buying shotguns and man traps ... or trusting in the warmth and honesty of my fellow Britons?
I like to think the latter - it's ceratinly what I see most often in my daily life - but sometimes (admittedly after several glasses of scotch) I hae me doots :(
Dunno Anne. I don't have a plasma but I do smoke.
I work 40 hours a week but I get benefits.
According to retrocop I am an immigrant because my parents were part Irish.
I worry for my future, seriously I do. ;)
Dave, I see where you're coming from but in the the paye system how can you refuse to pat your taxes. Last year I received a demand for unpaid tax of £128. I wrote to them and said if I've underpaid that is your fault not mine. They wrote back 'pay within 28 days or we will take you to court' When I suggested altering my code for this year their answer was no. So like a muppet I paid.
LOL anne, I smoke, the old man has a plasma screen, I have to make do with the old Telly.....never been on benefits, but retired now, so I suppose that's a sort of "paid for" benefit... Dave most people are decent, have a Whisky or something to wind you down xxx
