It has?
Where'd you hear that JN?
Note: Only the tax disc will disappear; not the fee.
Still have to pay but monthly direct debit will be an option!

Welcome to the 21st century!

Yes that is where I read it, breaking news!
I'd rather read Goodbye to Tax
direct debit will cost MORE than lump sum payment!!
I think that's a great idea, especially being able to pay monthly by DD.
That applies to only paying for 6 months, woofgang but I find it difficult to find a year's tax all in one go. This will help me.
So if you have your bank account with RBS you could find yourself fined for not having paid your road tax ...
Good and welcome news.
I agree about DD but its less work for them so they shouldn't be charging a premium for it!
Wasn't a tax disc useful to the police? If they saw an out of date on a motor it might have been an indicator that it could be worth while paying attention to it and its occupants.
Well at least there won't be a tax disc for the thieves to steal.

Sandy, it now looks as if roadside cameras will be used to detect untaxed cars. Big Brother is not far away. The idea of paying online is OK, but there will always be someone who does not wish to do that, or cannot use a computer. Has any thought been given to those people?
No more snitching on the neighbours then.
That'll age us when we show the next generation the last one we bought.....
Something so familiar is already a piece of history.
You'll still be able to pay at the post office.
Even insurance costs more if you pay by DD. My last quote was £40 more.
