I dont think there is a govt site = free

There are sites but it looks as though you have to pay

you might try googling the full name and seeing what comes up -
[ which incredibly is what my solicitor did for his own non-paying tenant ]

Oh, the credit card companies have access to these sites but I am certain that moolah changes hands
As PP says to the best of my knowledge there is no free list of County court cases, if you are considering dealing with a new person or firm you can check them out by using one of the credit rating agencies.
Do you mean cases or Judgments?

Each Court has its individual lists, not publicised ones though.

If you mean Judgments, CCJs are registered here:

http://www.trustonline.org.uk/

You can search it but there isn't just one big list you can look at.

amazing well done eve

(they want money but you know.... your posting is better than mine)
The other problem Eve is surely this is one of the sites that charges for each enquiry, are you aware of any site where there is no charge?
The Ministry of Justice outsources the keeping of a central register of CCJs to a not-for-profit company, called Registry Trust. It's that company which runs the Trust Online, which is therefore the ONLY source of the information which you're seeking.
BC and Eve have got it.
'recent reforms' see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Register_of_Judgments,_Orders_and_Fines

the effect is that the govt have devolved their own register toa private company whose address is Trustonline
