Food in newspaper

Is it illegal for a shop to sell food wrapped in newspaper?

I suspect that nowadays it's against Health & Safety regulations and the Food Hygiene Act.

It would be illegal for it to be the primary wrapping, it could still be used as a secondary wrapping (i.e. not in contact with the food).

There are health and safety regs against it now. Hygiene rules as well - imagine the amount of nastys on newspaper? The money handled by the newsagent etc

Nothing to stop using it as an outside wrapper if the actual product is wrapped in a plastic bag/clean white paper such as fresh fish or meat - my fishmonger uses newspaper
