Checking up on title deeds

Hi,

Can anyone tell me who checks whether people are sticking to the clauses in their title deeds? Is it down to neighbours to grass on people who arnt? If so, who do they report them to?

do you mean covenants? And are you talking about, for example historical ones? as an example it was a covenabnt when i bought my house that i can't put a wall up in my front garden and that i can't hold any religious meetings in my house. If that's the sort of one you mean? if so, it was probably imposed when the houses were first built by the developers. Depeding on when that was, the original developers might not even be in existance any more, and unless it has been worded to allow neighbours to enforce it or the developers have a successor, it becomes null and void.
To add to bednobs answer, if there is a breach then a beneficiary of the covenant has to seek to enforce through the civil courts - which is very expensive!

Thanks for responding, it could be a covenant. There is something in the deeds of the houses next to my mum that they cannot keep caravans and motorhomes outside their properties. The one next to my mum has bought one of those huge American type ones that are the size of a lorry and, needless to say, it has plunged my mums house into darkness. The houses were built 20 years ago by Alfred MsAlpine Homes which we believe are no longer trading.

Sorry, I meant to add that we have a copy of their mortgage deeds as well and the same clause is in that as well.
that might be a council requirement, it might be worth checking with them...front wall covenant are often to a council requirement for traffic reasons.
when developers build estates, they often put these sort of covenants in place in order to maintain the nice look of the estate for as long as possible so they can sell all the homes. Once they have done that, they probably wont care a jot. you need to find out if anyone took over the business is suppose then approach them, but tbh, i doubt you'll have much luck
