A census of every household in the UK will be held this March. Each person in every household will be asked for basic information about themselves to help the government plan how to deliver key everyday services. By law you have to complete the census and can face a big fine if you don't.
As Andycappy says its against the law not to fill it in
I'm sure I will fill it in completely ... with something.

I just hope I fill it in correctly then ....

Race - Formula 1
Religion - Coronation Street
Colour - Pink, brown and lots of grey
Address - I prefer Jeans and shirt

How many do you think will fill in this form ?
Let them prosecute ....the courts will be bogged down for years and years
Most of the questions are fairly general and dont require specific answers there is (I think) an option to leave out any answers you do not wish to give
The fine for not completing it is £1,000

I personally WILL be completing it, but as regards info I don't want them to know, I shall make up the answers

I'm contemplating changing my religion to Jedi Warrior

Any refusal to complete a form, encountered by field officers was reported to Census HQ and, if there was clear and sufficient documentary evidence of a refusal, and the refusal persisted, consideration was given to a prosecution. The Registrar General gave particular attention to those reported cases where refusals were accompanied by acts of intimidation towards field staff.

Field staff were given specific instructions on the necessary procedures for attempting to conduct Interviews Under Caution under the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

Details of 6 per cent of the 1,500 or so fully reported incidents of refusal were passed on to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Solicitors for consideration of legal action. A further 4,600 or so incidences of alleged refusal were reported but documentary evidence was insufficient to support prosecution.

Looking at how many people were fined for the 2001 census ....I would not loss sleep over not filling it in ....

Just make up the answers I now think is the best answer ...that is worse than a blank form I think
I'm changing my religion to "the dark side".
My point exactly sirrandyraven!

Let them prove that I am not a Jedi Warrior
So, what you are saying is that approx 6000 out of 57,000,000 refused to fill in the form. Shouldnt think the powers that be will be too bothered about that can you?
They are bound to make an example of some who refuse to fill out the form, and at £1,000 a pop, it is easy money for them
Most of the information they are asking for is already known to the powers that be, anyway. I don't see what business it is of theirs if weve had relatives staying with us overnight in the past year (which I gather is one of the questions).
I can see my blood pressure rising several points as I read the form
It's illegal not to and by filling it in you give the government information that can help them plan budgets etc and predict the population growth of the future so they can plan food stuff etc.
We're still ok putting Jedi as a religion ... http://uk.news.yahoo....s-answer-6323e80.html
Make sure you are away from home at the time of the census and you will not get in any trouble.

About 1.5million households failed to fill in their forms in 2001. ...
Oh botheration - I thought I was being original with the Jedi religion.

I am going to declare myself a witch instead
mollykins - no doubt due to your tender years you have never clapped eyes on a census form.
Trust me, they ask they most intrusive questions that have no relevance to food supplies, population predictions etc.
I just pray that are not going to ask Lottie about her turnips ...
