I have received the forms to write a Mirror Will with my partner with Irwin Mitchell solicitors - they will charge £230 for the service including someone coming out to run though it once it's written and witnessing it etc - what does everyone think of this? Sound like a reasonable fee? Reputable firm?

My husband and I did mirror wills, via our bank. Because we are premier customers we didn't have to pay. It was with Irwin Mitchell, they seem very good. We just filled out the forms and sent them back to be checked. They only wanted to charge us if they were keeping the wills for us, which they are not. Not sure what the charges usually are though.

Others might say that you can do it yourself for nothing – but given the time involved and the fact that they are coming to you – I think that it is a very reasonable price for mirror wills. Be aware that some of these will-writing companies make their money from you nominating them as executors of your will/estate. This is a very profitable area for such companies and solicitors. I would recommend you ensure that one of the beneficiaries of your will(s) is named as executor of your will(s).
