I'm both excited yet very nervous at my first interview for a deputy headteacher position - has anyone any ideas on the types of questions I might get asked?

Let's hope they don't ask you your user name on AB!
Probably they will ask you scenario questions to assess your ability to cope in stressful situations and for examples of how you have overcome conflict/difficulties etc, will it be a panel? They'll likely wany you to show you are able to plan and organise your time efficiently and also that you are enthusiastic about your vocation and have ambition. Well when i interview people to work in retail i look for that sort of outlook , maybe it's different in the teaching profession,
Not to mention weather you like kids or not, and how to handle stroppy ones.
With all due respect if you are going for a deputy head's position you must surely already be a teacher with the experience and confidence to handle such a responsible role already - therefore I'm surprised you need help with your interview preparation.
Hi momatiti - hope all goes well for you. Education isn't my background, I'm afraid - if the job was a Forensic Auditor's now!!
I can only relate ( & hopefully encourage) by recalling one past appointment where, at interview & looking @ other folk, I convinced myself I was only there to make up the numbers. By the time I went in I'd told myself I'd no chance & so was completely relaxed and said some things I'd never have said if I thought I was a serious contender. When they offered my the post .....!!
Remember - your'e interviewing them to decide if you want to work there. If you can get that into the psyche, your half way there. Good luck!
They will probably ask why do you want the job and why at that particular school? See if you can find out as much as you can about the school before your interview.
