Adultery is a grounds for divorce under the Matrimonial Clauses Act.
Please not that dultery involves sexual relations between one party to the marriage and an outside party of the opposite sex. If the sexual relationship is with a member of the same sex or if the relationship is not sexual that is not adultery.
If you wish to add the person that your partner is having an affair with as a Co-Respondant to the proceedings, then yes it would be more expensive as court documents would need to be served on the additional party & there is also no incentative to that party to co-operate within the proceedings - this could delay things.
You would need to petition for divorce. Petitioning for divorce on this ground must do so within six months of becoming aware of the adultery (which is not the same as within six months of it taking place) otherwise he/she is taken to have "condoned" it.
The other option is to divorce on the grounds of behaviour. This is easier to prove.
