Yes, once any time period concessions on CT for temporarily empty buildings have expired. These vary from council to council but have progressively been tightened as councils seek to claw in revnue.

The alternative is to demolish it, but make sure you get planning consent for a replacement first or you might completely lose the right for a dwellinghouse at all in the future (if the site is not within an existing settlement boundary - namely in countryside).
Some owners of crumbling historic houses in Scotland have got around this same council tax issue by removing the roofs, so they're no longer a habitation.
if it is uninhabitable - you dont have to pay council tax do you ?
