I.ve come up with an idea to help get the young people into work..Or just reduce the number of unemployed..Instead of raising the retirement age why not let everyone retire at 60..Women have been able to do this for years but why not let the men do it to.. I've worked all my life and would like to draw a pension at 60 and this would create a vacancy for my job which intern would help get someone off the dole.. my house is paid for i've got money in the bank but I don't want to just give up my job and live off my savings for 5 yrs.. but if i could claim a pension i would and i expect i wouldn't be alone..
The government would save money in the long run because i'd only be claiming for myself whereas someone with family may be taken off the dole ..

Quite simple- paying pensions from age 60 is considered to be unaffordable.

I'm not saying make it compulsery but allow people to do it if they want to..which would then take someone off the dole therefore it would pay for itself but the people who were on the dole would be earning a living..making more than they were before..
most people would choose to retire while they're able to enjoy it. the government can't afford to fund that.
We could just line Chavs up against a wall and hire a firing sqad?

I'm in favour of that one:-)
As most Chavs don't work, would you employ young people in the firing squad, Boo?
Kill two birds with one stone, that would.
no,the retired OAP's can do it, give 'em summet to do inbetween bingo dunnit?

;-)
Women retire age has now risen to 65. Not everyone once they reach this age want to give up work and stay at home all day pottering around. And a lot of older people cannot afford to give up work and live off of pension.

I don't understand why women could and in some cases, still can retire at 60.. And before anyone says it yes i am jelous.. I for one would love to retire if I had a pension to fall back on.. I don't want to spend my savings to stop work so i will just carry on depriving someone of a job they may well love..
B00, nice ;o)
See? I've thought it out.

Entertains the twirlys and gets rid of Chavs.

I should be a politician me.
my retirement age has been upped to 66, so far.
Boo you calling them Twirlys reminds me of my dad when he used to work on the buses, he called them twirlies because they were too early to get on the bus with their bus pass
That's where it comes from Rowan.

As in bus passes and them tryin to get on said bus at silly o clock then going "oh, am I too early?"
