Our Dad always called us "cabbage", why, I don't think even he knew, but it got over the problem of remembering names..... sometimes it was "chicken". (There were only three of us!)

The other Midlander is of course "our kid".

How widespread is "hen", or even "darlin"?

He didn't discriminate - we all got called both of them, two boys and a girl! Even just before he died aged 92, he was still doing it!

I have just been told by my resident expert that Prince Philip calls the Queen "Cabbage" (I put a capital C in this case!)
