Been pushed out of my job?

Hey, not posted in this section before biut could really do with some advice....

Ive been working for my employer for almost 5 yrs, in those years I had 6 months off when my son, now 4 was born, and went back full time no problem. I recently returned, in September after the birth of my daughter.
In all honesty, I was willing to give up work to look after my daughter & be there for the school run for my son, when I told my employer this I was begged to stay as I know the job and the staff, so i aggreed to work 2 days, and have done since.

However, yesterday I was told if I can't do the full 5 days then my job will advertised, and I believe it already has been, and I will be offered 'bank staff' work, which i can't do at the drop of a hat due to childcare!!!

Do I have any rights from my contract, even if my 2 days are verbally agreed? Sorry for waffling, Im just a bit miffed!! TIA.

Buildersmate I don't really know TBH, I could quite happily walk away and find a school hours job, but my family are on at me for been 'discriminated against'................?
Apparently I should be offered a flexible job within the same spec as before I went on mat leave.
I'm just asking, I don't have a clue really ........
The trouble is that the Government has got into a bit of a bind over this flexible return to work malarky.

The gist is that you have a right to apply for it, but the employer has a reasonable right to refuse it and give you reasons. A 'difficult' employer will seek to find reasons why not.
What's different about your case is that you started a part-time role and now they've changed all that. A pity in hindsight that no-one put anything in writing, however you might be able to use it to your advantage. Having read through, think about what reasons they are giving for not continuing with the arrangement.
