Has anyone ever been a mystery shopper as it sounds like it could be the perfect way to supplement my income? You don't often see ads for them but just found loads on www.myparttimejob.co.uk - and at 10+ an hour. Is it too good to be true?

I recently got a mystery shopper job through www.myparttimejob.co.uk and I'm really enjoying it - you're not going to make a fortune as the hours can be quite variable, but I'm finding it relatively easy to fit all my other commitments around it. Beware though I think there are a number of dodgy companies claiming to want mystery shoppers and demanding cash up front which certainly isn't what I had to do!
Hi Mel - sorry BigS

what sort of things do you have to do and who pays for the purchases you make?

Thanks x
scouse it depends where you live, and your sex and your age,i didnt get much return, and i wasnt offered 10 a hour, you are paid by each job accordinly!!!
I do it as well. I am registered with 6 different agencies and still there isn't much work about really, you have to be really quick grabbing jobs when you get the email notification.

You get paid per job, some pay 15, some only pay 4 plus the cost if the food (or whatever you buy) is refunded.

You will never be rich or be able to make a living from it but U enjoy it!

Mystery shoppers are the bain of my life!!! they always come in either at the end of a busy megaday when i've done a 10 hour shift with no lunch break and ask have i got a red satin shoe in a size 5 or they come in when the sunday 4 hour a week girl is in and base the department on the one visit!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
But Dot, we do get told what times we must visit!

I did a fast food chain a while back in the town centre and had to visit between 12:00 - 2:00pm on a Saturday - probably their busiest time. There were queues back to the door and the tables etc were dirty as they were too busy to clean up quickly enough. The staff weren't as friendly as they could be, probably 'cos they were harrassed and trying to get the queue down. I did feel sorry for them when I submitted my report as I know it isn't normally that bad in there!
