I have one of these coming up in a couple of months. Can I do anything to prepare for it?

these are usually just a set a questions outlining a situation and offering a choice of responses/actions, you select which one you think you would choose or do..just be honest in how you would react to it

Thanks for the reply. I have done a bit of surfing, so I know what they are. While they say there are "no right answers" they are clearly looking for a certain pattern of behaviour, so I was wondering how I can prepare for it. Are there any sample studies to be done? Past tests? That sort of thing?
sorry...we do use at them at work and they're just the same as any type of psychometric testing, there is no right answer, j

Jst answer honestly, most people can't fool them and you will react the way it feels right to you...sorry I can't offer anything more constructive than that...
SJTs have historically been within the psycology domain as a means of predicting behavior in a new role i.e. in assessment and selection. More recently however they are being used as a developmental diagnostic i.e. to identify areas of knowledge building or training that will help you perform the role you currently perform. For either, the more 'you' you are in responding then either the more likely the role is for 'you' or that your developmental needs will be accurately assessed. One tip - when viewing the alternatives on offer don't be 'suckered' into what might appear to be the most 'agreeable or collaborative' answer - it might be the best approach but view it just as critically as those that might appear 'less right'.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I am grateful to people for taking the time to reply!

From what you are saying, I take it there is nothing I can do to prepare - even psychometric tests (eg getting some of those little books and practising!) won't help? This is a bit frustrating!!
