Hi Caz, what makes you think you are not that clever and why do you think you have to be clever to work in a shop? Believe me I am sure you know more than you realise and you certainly don't have to be clever to work in a shop. It is mostly about common sense and attitude. Have some confidence in yourself and the next time you see a job advertised in a shop where you would like to work - go for it, and if at first you don't succeed, don't give up but keep trying. You can do it if you want it enough.
Hi Caz, I don't think you realise how dificult a job being a care assistant is, and how responsible you have to be to do that job well. As an ex Sister I Do. So as Jules says GO FOR IT. You will, I'm sure find shop work a lot less taxing than you think. Apply now as there are lots of temporary Xmas vacancies about, then you will have some experiance to take to you next job.

Goo Luck :)

thanks both for those kind words i may go for it you never know watch this space xxxx
However I'd bear in mind that most shop work will want you to work weekends.
My oldest friend managed a supermarket (Budgens) before buying his own, and his recruitment motto was ' I just want people who will like my customers and want to help them. I can teach them the rest dead easy, it ain't rocket science...' I spoke to a neighbour who's on Customer Service at Tesco, and she says that's pretty much Tesco's position these days. You sound like a nice person and I reckon it will come across in an interview, so do it, you can't lose, and good luck.
What about getting some shop experience as a volunteer in a charity shop for a while, to see if you get on with it? Good luck.
if you can handle dealing with difficult situations and people like in the care assistant role, then you will be brilliant at shop work! the trickiest aspect is the general public, and you have great experience there...and obviously you are used to being on your feet and doing hard physical work, so go for it!

and depending where you get a job, there are often perks such as discounts or free products so you can sell better! this often takes the sting out of having to work most Saturdays!
