What would be a different way of saying on my CV that one of my key skills is 'common sense'...

what about saying yopu are a practical, grounded person who has a wide knowledge? What's up with saying common sense then?

Try 'Lateral Thinker' If they dont understand what you mean, they will think you must be clever. If they do understand they will admire your understanding and use of the English language!
