HR = human resources....an americanism! aka the personnel dept!

Hi amzwhatever,

As Steve quite rightly says HR is Human Resources - it doesn't sound a silly question to me as a lot people don't know what it is, I'm always being asked what do you do, I'm in HR I reply and then I get blank looks!!

Unfortunately, as I understand it, companies can deal with grievances slightly differently according to their own procedure (ie who to contact in the first instance). So you really need to see a copy of it.

However there is quite a lot of useful information on the ACAS website www.acas.org.uk/media/pdf/k/4/RW01_1.pdf or on the CIPD (HR website) on the following link http://www.cipd.co.uk/subjects/emplaw/discipline/disciplingrievprocs.htm?IsSrchRes=1

If you put anything to them, make sure you keep copies in the event of them going astray.

Hope you get on ok.
