You'll need to work hard to make sure you impress them in your new job to make sure they don't fail your probation or reduce your hours, and also try harder to be flexible and avoid issues with your supervisor- and be lucky to find you enjoy working with your colleagues and managers. With all that you might just make more of a success of it than in your last few roles

First day good today not great but hope it was to do with tiredness

Thank you for updating us. I hope you get some rest and feel fresher for tomorrow. Any new routine takes time to adjust to so don't be hard on yourself.

I wish you a great day tomorrow.

Yes supervisor I was working with today was horrible compared to other ones I've worked with. Hope the care home keep me.

Will the work always be in the Care Home or will you be going out to client's homes to do cleaning, etc?

Question Author

I'm doing clients in my new job

Are you still also working at the other Care Home?  I don't look  in often so am a bit muddled.

Question Author

Yes still there in Friday  no idea what they will say to me

It was ok today just so tiring

Any new job is tiring- it's not just the longish hours (6 or 7 hrs) and the phsyical effort, it's the unfamiliarity of the people and procedures, and the pressure of wanting to create the right impression. But you get a full day off tomorrow, just a few hours cleaning stairs on Friday, then a weekend off.

//I'm doing clients in my new job//

How will you be travelling between clients?

At the moment, Togo, abbey is being taken to the client homes by a supervising colleague. Maybe they always work in pairs so abbey will always be transported, but I can see a time when she may need to make her own way to the client homes on occasions or maybe all the time

How many houses were on the rota today Abbey?  Was a different person supervising you?  No wonder you are tired - you seem to have to work at break-neck speed to clean bathroom, kitchen and bedroom/s in 40 mins.  Anyway, that's the first week in for that job. x

Care workers only work in pairs when medical knowledge is necessary or 2 people are required for lifting etc, I believe. If our poster is being accompanied and transported with a view to going solo after training then future arrangements for transport will have been discussed at some time. They are very important. Public transport is not an option. There will be a very, very, strict timetable for home visits that is expected to be adhered to every day without "clients" being kept waiting or worse still unattended. I know these things.

There were 3 of us and have good days when I'm with this supervisor. One thing I didn't like was when supervisor said boss said take someone's laptop as they hadn't been paying. I'm hoping it something positive when I go to the care home Friday.

Togo.

Abbey is working in a pair, but not in a care home. She is not required to attend to a person medically. She is in a cleaning job
