Thing 1 and 2 start secondary school in September so I am going to be looking for a job. A part-time Key Stage 2 teaching job has become available at the the local primary but I am an ex-secondary teacher who hasn’t taught for 12 years. On the plus side, I could be flexible with what day(s) I worked, I know the school and staff well and I did a term of volunteering in year 6 at the school. I would obviously be happy to put the time in to get up to speed on the curriculum. Any one have any thoughts?

Grab it before somebody else does.
If you like the sound of it and it suits you, go for it, sherr... best of luck xx
Go for it!! And good luck.
Absolutely go for it. What are you waiting for?
Sounds an ideal opportunity Sherr.

If you know the people and the hours suit, go for it.
Sounds perfect. Secondary school to primary? You'll be fine.
Don't wait - get your application in today!!

I’ve contacted the deputy head for a chat after school today to see if they would consider an ex-secondary teacher.
Go for it
Good luck! Seems the perfect post...
I would employ you immediately :*)
I think it could depend on who else applies for the job. You may be up against teachers who are already in the primary sector but why not apply and see what comes of it
It’s part time which is a great advantage for you with your other commitments
I would grab it cause it seems tailor made for you
Best wishes whatever you decide

Spoke to the deputy head and she’s going to ask the executive head if the school would even entertain a non-primary teacher :)
Fingers crossed.
Best of luck, sherr.
Good luck Sherr, hope somethings comes of it.

Thanks everyone, it’s a bit daunting after being out of the job market for so long.

The executive head has said she would welcome my application (which I know means diddly squat) - but at least she has dismissed me out of hand :)
