Can somebody please end an argument for me and tell me how to correctly pronounce the word 'stupidity'. My brother thinks it is pronounced 'stupidity' but it seems like it doesn't make sense, I always pronounce it as 'stupidity', which I think sounds right but I could be wrong, please can anyone clear this matter up for me. thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question but are you asking if it's pronounced "stew-pid" (as preferred by us Brits) or the Americanized "stoo-pid"?

You are both wrong- it is actually pronounced 'stupidity'.
I think "stupidity" sounds right :-)
I'm not sure of the different ways you both pronounce it...

Stew-pid-it-ee
Stupidity
stick to your guns, you are right with 'stupidity'
Do you write the letters and answers for Viz ?
stupidity or stupidity? errrrmmmm... hard to say but I put the accent on pid, if that's any help

I do think it is stupidity, thanks prudie. Factor, you make the word not even sound like stupidity when you say it

"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits" - Einstein.

Question Author
DTC even you say it wrong and you used it in a proper sentence, I think everyone agrees with me here that it is 'stupidity' not 'stupidity' like how you say it
don't blame DTC, it was Einstein who got it wrong, but then he was German.
Question Author
True but DTC said it in his own accent that's why I don't understand why he said it like that
Stupidity, Pronounced '' Idiotic''

2SP is currently best stupid answer for a stupid question, if anyone can beat that then they will take pride and place on top as best answer!
I'm sure 2sp will wear her stupid award with pride
He also wrote, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former," a remark from a contributor on a thread where the OP has a very sick hubbie being a superb example of the latter.

An apology may be appreciated over there, PP.........
This question is similar to "What word in the English language do people always spell 'incorrectly'?"
I'm not sure I understand the question but are you asking if it's pronounced "stew-pid" (as preferred by us Brits) or the Americanized "stoo-pid"?
So, am I "stewey" or "stooey"?:)
Pronounce it how you like, I don't care so long as I can understand it. Life's too short.
