last week no.2 daughter and grand-daughter came to stay. lovely to see them as the last time we met was at my mother's funeral in august.
i said we were thinking of down-sizing and the instant comment from grand-daughter was "but where would we stay if you do that?" "and if i come to down here to study where will i spend my weekends?"
i'm flattered she wants to stay with us but what would you have said in reply?
by the way grandson have just rung and said they are travelling down overnight and would like to stay for a few days as they have some time off work.
leaving the key in the front door when i go to bed.
that's very advice wellshi but unfortunately not really possible at the moment and it has nothing to do with grandchildren. i was just amazed at the speed of her response.
It's nice they want to visit, but you have to think of yourself day to day now, and the difficulties of keeping up a larger house. You can always get a sofa bed....
maidup i am quite resigned to not seeing them very often as they are all leading very busy lives and have to drive 350 + miles to come and see me. any visit is a great treat. i was just surprised that she considers it part of her life to come and stay with us. she is 18 and just thought she would have so much else she would rather be doing.
That's nice LJ, and an 18yr old who has the sense to know how unconditonal love works! Hot meals, washing machine, cosy afternoon when she wants some quiet time and a spare bed when she needs it too.
mm i am very lucky. wish i could share my grandkids with you. they do wrong things - not bad - just wrong but on the whole they are kind and thoughtful and i love them to pieces.
Mic you are so right, those of us lucky enough to have this very special relationship with the little ones and to watch them grow are blessed. My heart goes out to you ((HUG))♥
