Hi there. I rent an annex. It is part of the main house and has a partition wall with an ajoining door. It has its own bathroom, kitchen etc. I have just been given two months notice as my landlord recently enquired if my son is insured when he stays here only to find that me being here invalidates the entire house insurance. This makes me think that they have not declared me being here. This means i have to leave a place that is very nice and has fond memories for me. Can anyone please explain if there is a way round this? Can you get separate annex insurance and if so what are the terms???

Hope you can help me, many thanks. Neil

You will probably find they do not have planning permission for the annexe to be occupied separately, and that by subdividing their property in a less-than-legal way they are unable to get contents insurance.
There are insurers who would provide the necessary landlords cover - if insurance really is the reason then they should see a broker - this not an unusual arrangement ancan be covered although it may need two separate policies - one for his main residence and one for your annex.
